The Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS) CET 2026 admission process is for candidates seeking admission to Class VI and Class IX for the academic session 2027-28. The online application window is scheduled from 23 September to 20 October 2026, while the written Common Entrance Test is scheduled for 13 December 2026.

RMS are English-medium residential public schools run by the Ministry of Defence. There are five schools at Chail, Ajmer, Belgaum, Bengaluru and Dholpur. Admission to Classes VI and IX is through the Common Entrance Test.

RMS CET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Age Limit

A six-month relaxation in the upper age limit is permitted for wards of personnel killed in action. 

The accepted date-of-birth authority is a certificate issued by a Municipal Corporation or authorised local government body. Certificates issued by Gram Panchayat or other local bodies are not accepted according to the prospectus. 

RMS CET 2026 Exam Pattern

The Common Entrance Test is conducted through an OMR-based examination. The pattern differs for Class VI and Class IX. 

Class VI Exam Pattern

English is qualifying in nature and its marks are not counted for preparation of the final merit list. 

Class IX Exam Pattern

The Class IX entrance question paper is in English only, while the Class VI paper is bilingual in English and Hindi. 

RMS CET 2026 Syllabus

The written examination is generally based on:

• Class V standard for Class VI admission.
• Class VIII standard for Class IX admission.

For Class VI, the examination covers English, Intelligence, Mathematics and General Knowledge & Current Affairs.

For Class IX, candidates are tested through English, Hindi, Social Science, Mathematics and Science.

RMS CET 2026 Reservation

The prospectus provides the following category-wise reservation:

Additional reservation under the Government of India policy includes:

• OBC-NCL: 27%
• SC: 15%
• ST: 7.5%

For girls, 10% seats or a maximum of 30 seats, whichever is less, are earmarked for Class VI across the five RMS schools, while 10% seats are earmarked for Class IX.

RMS CET 2026 Selection Process

The RMS admission process includes the following stages:

1. Written Common Entrance Test

Candidates first appear for the OMR-based CET. The minimum qualifying requirements differ between Class VI and IX.

2. Medical Examination

Candidates who qualify in the written examination are called for medical examination and interview.

Medical examination is conducted at nominated Military Hospitals/medical centres. Candidates select their preferred medical examination hospital during online registration. 

3. Interview

Qualified candidates appear for the interview. Interview marks are added to the written examination score before preparation of the final merit list. 

4. Final Merit List

The final merit list is prepared using the cumulative marks obtained in the written examination and interview, subject to medical fitness.

Selected candidates are allotted one of the five RMS schools according to merit and available vacancies.

RMS School Fees & Caution Money

After selection, school fees are payable according to the candidate's category.

Caution money is deposited once at admission and is refundable without interest when the cadet is discharged, subject to the applicable conditions.

3. Complete the online registration within the prescribed dates.
