The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has released UP PGT Recruitment 2026 Notification for 2,607 Lecturer/PGT vacancies in aided schools of Uttar Pradesh. UP PGT Recruitment Age Limit & Relaxation

For the UP PGT post, the notification specifies:

• Minimum Age: 21 years

• Maximum Age: 62 years

• Age is considered as on 1 July 2026.

• The maximum age is subject to the applicable service rules.

Reservation and related benefits are available according to applicable Uttar Pradesh government rules. The notification specifies provisions for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwD, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories. Candidates claiming reservation must possess the prescribed certificates.

The recruitment covers 26 subjects, with vacancies distributed between boys' and girls' schools.

UP PGT Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have the prescribed postgraduate qualification in the relevant subject along with the required teaching qualification.

For most subjects, the notification specifies:

• Relevant postgraduate degree from a recognised university/institution.

• B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognised programme.

• Subject-specific qualifications may differ.

For example, candidates applying for Hindi must have a postgraduate qualification in Hindi along with the prescribed Sanskrit-related bachelor's qualification and B.Ed. Similarly, English, Economics, Sociology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and other subjects have their respective subject-wise qualifications.

UP PGT Selection Process

The UP PGT selection process consists of a written examination followed by an interview.

Written Examination

The written examination carries 360 marks and consists of 120 objective-type questions.

• 30 questions: General Knowledge

• 90 questions: Concerned subject

• Total: 120 questions

• Maximum Marks: 360

• Duration: 2 hours

• Correct Answer: +3 marks

• Wrong/Multiple Answer: –1 mark

The final merit is prepared on the basis of 400 marks, comprising 360 marks from the written examination and 40 marks from the interview.

UP PGT Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates for the Lecturer/PGT post will receive the prescribed Level-8 pay scale of Rs47,600 to Rs1,51,100.

Candidates can apply online by following these steps:

1. Visit the official UPESSC website.

2. Complete the mandatory One Time Registration (OTR).
